Traditional Route (Srinagar -Pahalgam-Holy Cave)

PAHALGAM – HOLY CAVE

PAHALGAM
Situated 96 Kms from Srinagar, Pahalgam is known all over the international globe for its beauty. Lidder and Aru Rivers and mountains that are high the valley. Good Hotels are available for accommodation. Arrangements for free Langars (food kiosks) are also made by Non Government Organisations at Nunwan Yatri Camp, 6 kms. short of Pahalgam. Pilgrims camp at Pahalgam for the night that is first.

CHANDANWARI
The distance from Pahalgam to Chandanwari is 16 kms. Mini buses operate from Pahalgam to reach Chandanwari. The trail runs along the Lidder River with a fabulous view that is scenic. There are many Langars that provide food to the Yatris.
PISSU TOP
Due to the fact Yatra proceeds further from Chandanwari one climbs a height to reach Pissu Top. It is stated that to be the initial to take darshan of Bhole Nath Shivshankar, there was clearly a pugilative war between Devtas and Rakshas. SHESHNAG

The approach to Mahagunas is full of rivulets, water falls and springs. At Panjtarni, at the feet of BHAIRAV MOUNT, Five Rivers flow which apparently descends from Lord Shiva’s Hair (Jataon). THE HOLY CAVE SHRI AMARNATH
On the real way to The Holy Cave, one results in the Sangam of Amravati and Panjtarni streams. Some pilgrims take bath at Amravati near the Holy Cave before opting for Darshan. There are two main smaller Shivlings certainly one of Maa Parvati along with other of Shri Ganesh. Traditional Route (Jammu-Baltal-Holy Cave)

Baltal to Holy Cave
Holy Cave is just 14 Kms from Baltal and the exact distance may be covered by foot / Ponies. However, Dandies will also be available for handicapped and old pilgrims that are aged.

The width of the(kuchha that is pebbled road is a bit slim as compared to the Chandanwari-Holy Cave route, more over, you can find some steep rises & falls in route, as compared to the Chandanwari route, but pilgrims can return back to base camp Baltal through this path just in one day.
